Events: 2011 MBB Week

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

MBB Week is a week-long event held and organized by the UP Molcular Biology and Biotechnology Society in an effort to meet the vision and mission of the organization to Promote, Enhance and Express.

Promote
The week started off with TsaMBBahan, a quiz show designed to test the limits of luck with an array of questions regarding just about anything under the sun. Geared toward students within the University, this activity served as a fun-filled attraction to promote the organization and its activities while allowing participation from non-members. Participants were treated to a flurry of interesting trivia questions and snacks care of Sizzling Bangus.

A Journal Seminar was also held in the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology to educate students on recent trends in Molecular Biology. Topics included A population-specific HTR2B stop codon predisposes to severe impulsivity, and other interesting discoveriespartaining to Molecular Biology. To promote interest and awareness of MBB as a whole, UP MBBS holds such Journal Seminars at least once every semester. These talks are open to the public, specifically students of the College of Science.

Enhance
A Marketing Seminar was held for the members of the organization with respect to Business Etiquette, Client Handling and Sponsorship calls. UP MBBS holds this event catering to its members in order to enhance and instill skills useful to future endeavors. These skills aim to prepare the members for work and cultivate within them responsibility and versatility.

Express
UP MBBS would be nothing without its mother institute and MBB Week paid tribute to the people and the institute that has made everything possible by holding Faculty and Admin Appreciation Day, preparing a meal for all of the Teachers, Professors, Admin and Staff of NIMBB.

In a further expression of the organization's gratitude to the entire institute, including its student body, MBB Night was held as the culmination of MBB Week. UP MBBS Applicants presented talents and programs catering to the guests. Games were played encouraging fun, healthy competition and no party would be complete without a bountiful dinner for all.

All in all it has been an eventful week. We look forward to seeing you at another of UP MBBS' events in the future.

Events: MBB Week Presents: MBB Night 2011

Saturday, September 17, 2011

UP MBBS Hosts MBB Night every year to cater to the Faculty, Admin and student body of the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology in one fun-filled night of games, food, dancing and general merriment.

This year's event, held at MyPlace Katipunan was an exhibition of talents from the 2011-2012 Academic Year Applicants of UP MBBS and they did not disappoint. Ranging from Band performances to provocative dances to a full on choir peace, the applicants displayed not only resourcefulness and creativity, but an utter lack of inhibition. Events: MBB Week Presents: TsaMBBahan

Thursday, September 15, 2011

Last September 12, 2011. TsaMBBahan, the quiz show about anything under the sun was held in the National Institute of Geological Sciences Room 015. Known for its utterly random nature, this year's TsaMBBahan catered to trivia-guzzling students of UP Diliman with categories as skillfully named as they are random.

These categories were TiniMBBang Ka Ngunit Kulang (movies), C-C-C-oMBBo Breaker! (video games), HaMBBurger (food), IMBBa (internet), JustiM BBieber (Justin Bieber), ZoMBBie Apocalypse (zombies), UP NaMBBing Mahal (UP), and How I Met Your MBBother (TV).
Seven teams, Team Sizzling Bangus, Team Champion Team, Team Kokak, Team Mang, Team Lacoste, Team-Ata, and Team Fluffy endured relentless questioning as their wits were tested to the highest degree whilst enjoying seemingly endless amounts of Sizzling Bangus chips.

Despite coming in late and being outrageously outnumbered, Team Fluffy, comprised of only one member became a prime contender, but in the end, only one team prevailed, and to no surprise.

Drawing energy from the provided snackfoods, Team Sizzling Bangus came in first.

Congratulations and we hope to see you again for another exciting TsaMBBahan next year!

Events: Mr. and Ms. FreCShie 2011

Sunday, July 3, 2011

Being the first CS event that UP MBBS lended their helping hands to support this year, Mr. and Ms. FreCShie 2011 was one memorable experience. A week of props making and logistics on the organization's part, and a week of practice and dedication from the institute representatives Katrina David and Joseph Libunao made this event very much anticipated.

The event started with much stress as a sudden downpour and a scheduled pep rally made it difficult for most to make their way to the venue at the NIP atrium. Tensions were high as the representatives rushed to get ready.

Fresh from an all-kill CS event win last year, NIMBB had a lot planned for this event, including sparklers, an entourage of dancers and a larger-than-life arch to escort its representatives into the pageant.

It was no wonder that in the end, Katrina David and Joseph Libunao went home with the Best Talent and Crowd Favorite awards (which were determined by the judges' scores and by bottle votes respectively) and not to mention bagged the title of Overall Winner of Mr. and Ms. FreCShie 2011. The Best Costume award went to the Institute of Chemistry for the second year in a row, and the Institute of Math bagged the award for Most Photogenic with an overwhelming amount of likes on their Facebook Photo.

This CS Event aimed to unite the CS freshmen in a common effort and bring out the bibo in each of them. I'm sure we can say with confidence that the CS freshmen are some of the best in the university, with brains, beauty, and talent to boot.

There is no limit to what anybody can achieve with help and support of friends, and family. I'm sure each institute is equally proud of their representatives, regardless of the outcome, and we look forward to the next Mr. and Ms. FreCShie. Again, a big round of applause for the winners, and a big THANK YOU to UP MBBS for their undying support in this endeavor.
