Activities: Apps' Night

Friday, September 13, 2013

On September 6, 2013, one major event was hosted by MBBS applicants, the Apps' Night! They prepared games, short skits, songs as well as dance numbers that utterly brought a great show. Overflowing pizzas and drinks were served by the applicants themselves. The venue was also put up with much effort. Balloons, cut-outs and banderitas perked up the room!

It was also the time for getting to know the applicants, discovering their talents and skills. Indeed,

"That's the goal. Just to go out and not try to prove anybody wrong but just let your talents speak for themselves." - Robert Griffin III

Members and applicants enjoying the eventful night!

The event was filled with so much laughter that one would ought to wish for an encore.

UP MBBS held its 20th Biosciences Quiz Bee on September 2, 2013! Over 100 students from 18 different schools came with upsurged morale and competed not only to hone their skills but knowledge as well. The event started with a written exam which determined the 15 teams that are to proceed to the semifinals. A student from St. Jude Catholic School, in particular, achieved the highest score of all those who took this test. A break before the quiz bee was organised with complementary food and drinks!

This event was guided by judges Kathleen Beverly Pe, Kamela Charmaine Ng, John Gabriel Pelias and Denise Noelle Bascos from the Institute of Chemistry, Biology, Math and the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, respectively, who are indeed, experts in their chosen field. NIMBB's very own Sir Alvin Bello hosted the event together with the academic committee head and MBBS members as well.

Five team finalists composed of students from St. Jude Catholic School, Philippine Science Highschool and Chiang Kai Shek College were cut down to two teams at the last leg of the competition, as ended by a clincher round between the latter two schools mentioned. Thereafter, trophies and certificates were distributed to the winners and to each participant, respectively.

Trophies waiting for the winners!

Questions were prepared by the Organization from math to geology to biology to chemistry and molecular biology lessons, name it! Not to mention, talented members performed an intermission number by playing instruments that stole the audience's attention.

An indubitably incredible, mind-boggling event that fed everyone's thirst for savoir faire.
